Acts 20:1-5 As Paul continues his missionary journey, we see once again his dedication to the Gospel and that he does not let any obstacle divert him from that goal. As God closes some doors for Paul’s ministry, He opens others.

Acts 19:21-41 Once again, opposition arises against Paul’s ministry in Ephesus. Demetrius, a silversmith who fashions silver shrines of Artemis, realizes that the ministry is bad for his business. He raises a riot, and Paul’s cohorts are dragged before the mob.

Acts 19:11-20 After seeing Paul cast out demons in the name of Jesus, the seven sons of Sceva, who called themselves exorcists, tried to do the same. The demon, who did not recognize their authority, for they had none, lashed out at them and humiliated them.

Acts 19:8-12 Paul continues his ministry in Ephesus, first in the synagogue and then in the school of Tyrannus for 2 years. All Asia hears the Gospel as a result. We learn the following lessons from this account and apply them to our situation:

Acts 19:1-7 In Ephesus, Paul finds disciples who had received only the baptism of John the Baptist. After they accept the Gospel, they are baptized into the name of Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 18:24-28 Luke draws our attention to the character of Apollos and gives us, in effect, a short biography of his life in these few verses.

Acts 18:18-23 Paul returns to Antioch to end his second missionary journey.

Acts 18:12-17 After Paul is reassured by Christ, he devotes the next 18 months to ministering in Corinth. Ultimately, when the Lord is about to move Paul on to another place, opposition arises.

Acts 18:5-11 Paul works with Aquila and Priscilla to establish the Church at Corinth. In this passage, we have an exhortation and an encouragement. We are exhorted and challenged by the concern Paul had that he fully proclaim the Gospel.

Acts 18:1-4 Paul used every opportunity he could to further the Gospel. When he entered Corinth, he began to work alongside Aquila and Priscilla as a tent-maker. This allowed him not only to minister to them and to others but also to support himself.

Acts 17:16-34 While Paul is waiting in Athens for Silas and Timothy, he is offended by the number of idols and false gods being worshiped. He begins to speak out against them, and is challenged by the Epicureans and the Stoics.

Acts 17:10-15 Paul, Silas and Timothy move on from Thessolonica and come to Berea. We see the familiar pattern repeated – the persistence of the missionaries despite affliction and persecution, the good reception of some and the hatred and opposition of others.
