Characteristics of God's Servants

That You Might Believe

Acts 26:29 We are reminded through the example of Paul of what the Spirit actually does in our hearts to bring about a desire to reach the lost.

Walk with God

Genesis 5:21-24 We consider that to be useful to the Lord, we must walk with God, like Enoch, whom the Lord took to be with Him because Enoch was pleasing to Him.

A Perfect Christian

Matthew 5:48 Continuing our study of ways we as Christians can become more useful to God, we consider that Jesus commands us to be perfect as God is perfect.

A Single Heart

Philippians 3:13-16 If we want to be successful at something and stand out from the crowd, we must be completely and wholeheartedly devoted to that cause. The same is true when it comes to the Christian life – we need a single heart for Christ.

Honor Authority

1 Peter 2:12-17 We consider another quality we need to possess if we are to be useful to the Lord: we need to honor the authorities that he has established.

Sin Is Not Your Master

Romans 6:12-14 Though sin still lives in us, we must not live in any sin – we must fight against it. And we must know our sins so that we can fight against them.

Love One Another

1 Peter 1:22-23 We consider something further that will help us to be useful to the Lord: we must love one another.

The Fruit of the Spirit is . . . Patience

Galatians 5:22 We consider one more virtue that will make us more useful to the Lord: patience. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit and also something the Lord commands us to exhibit as His children.

Zealous for His Glory

John 2:17 We continue our series on the characteristics of usefulness – what must be true of us if we are to be useful to the Lord by considering the trait of zeal.

To Be with Christ Is Better

Philippians 1:23 We consider another godly attribute that will make us more useful to the Lord: our hearts must be fixed on heaven. We examine two things: *How we can know that our hearts are in heaven. *Why we should want to be in heaven.
